ALYSSA WHITING

Alyssa has been a stage actor local to the Charlotte, North Carolina area for the last decade after studying theatre performance in college. Sometime along the way someone planted the idea in her head that she would make a great voice actor, and now here we are.

While she has mostly been working in theatrical costuming and other professional sewing work, Alyssa’s true passion has always been acting. It brings her the greatest joy and fulfillment to be able to embody a variety of characters.

Her approach to a performance stems from classical training which involves living truthfully in a given circumstance. She believes that if she is cast in a role, then it is her job to live her true self using the words on the page. Small changes of vocal inflection may be made to fit the character’s environment - factors such as their regional dialect, stature, and age - but the choice in motivation and emotion should be genuine and reactive to other events in the scene.

Outside of acting for either voice recording or on stage, you might catch Alyssa at home with her husband and three pets, sitting at a sewing machine somewhere, in figure skating classes, engaging in music through singing or playing flute, making handmade lace at the local renaissance festival, learning Japanese and Spanish, watching anime, or reading. She believes in remaining a life-long student and to always be open to learning.
